Quick accurate colour the wait is over
As a progressive web design, branding and graphic design business, we have an on-going commitment to improve and refine our services. One of the key areas we identified for improvement was colour proofing and on-press colour sign-off; historically a time intensive, potentially costly process.
Having developed an expertise in colour correction, working closely with companies such as Romo fabrics and Villa Nova, we were confident that our in-studio processes were very effective. However, the issue of the amount of valuable time spent ‘on-press', by both us and our clients was one which we were determined to improve upon.
Key to the review, was to research current improvements in technology which would allow a much better level of image control between desktop (designer), repro (conversion to printable format) and plate (the physical interpretation of the image used to print with). Having identified how we could achieve this, we set about it by investing in a high-end, in-house colour proofing system, which produces industry standard, colour certified proofs. This done, we reviewed all of our preferred print partners, resigned to developing relationships only with those who could demonstrate accurate on-press colour, in line with the certified proofs.
The results have been dramatic, with on-press proofing times being reduced in most cases to under one hour and we've removed the potential for additional charges due to press down-time or plate changes.
