Google Places - Local Search
Google Places was the largest change to local search seen in search engine results last year, seeing businesses able to compete with big brands with the addition of a local listing. As an example, if you enter a search for “web design in Derby”, Google Places markers appear in the results page. Within the results you find a listing, a map and any reviews relating to the business.
It was been about eight months since Google rolled out this update, and it is evident that many businesses have not recognised the benefits of this simple and effective method of promoting their websites. Absolute has carried out a number of optimisation projects for clients' Google Places accounts, which have generated impressive results in a relatively short period of time.
