As regular networkers, we have always considered the events organised by the IoD to be of a high calibre and as a Regional Sponsor, we try to maintain a regular presence. This has been especially true this month as we have attended events in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby.

This month's events included:

Leicester - An interesting presentation by Russell Copley on Angel Investment, Exit Strategies, and Sweat Equity.

Nottingham - Julia Hodson, Chief Constable of the Nottinghamshire Police gave an enlightening view on the management challenges she faces as the ‘CEO' of the Nottinghamshire force.

Derby - Stuart Garner, MD of Norton Motorcycles, gave an insight into his business background, ranging from gamekeeper to running a market leading fireworks business and the events that led him to acquire the Norton brand, develop a new motorbike, and bring it to market within three years. All this, plus his experience of riding the Norton motorbike that broke the world land speed record for a rotary engine motorbike on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Having achieved page one, position one for our key referring term ‘web design' in both Nottingham and Derby, we are busy working towards achieving the same position for Leicester. This market penetration is supported by our networking activity which in turn helps with brand recognition. Added to this the fact that it's far easier to meet senior decision makers from businesses who are actively seeking to market themselves, and the result is a great platform for new business.
