Villa Nova new season launch: The next stage
August will see the launch of the latest Villa Nova Collection. Following on from our previous article covering the first stages of the Villa Nova new season creative, having colour corrected in the region of 40 images, we were eager to make a start on the design development and printing stage: developing the Villa Nova new season brochure and various other associated printed materials.
Working closely with the client, we’ve designed a small, but perfectly formed, 20 page season brochure, point of sale boards, and pattern book lithos. The first print run for the brochures was for 40, 000 copies and, as always with this exacting type of work, from the studio to the printing house, we ensured we were on hand to oversee the production process throughout.
This collection saw us move over,
for the first time for this client, from handling film based photography
to digital imagery. Some of us here are a little ‘old school’ when it
comes to this type of thing, but the efficiencies and reduced cost of
using digital photography cannot be ignored. Although, in our opinion,
digital can’t (yet) reproduce the depth and information levels (and in
some cases ‘romance’) created through converting an image from film, the
end result here, happily, has not suffered. Having invested recently in
our own FOGRA certified proofing system, has further improved the
smooth running of this type of project (we’re maintaining a colour
accuracy level of 1.0 which, we are told, is the highest achievable) and
has meant faster passing on-press, with excellent accuracy of colour
from proof to print; our proofs are scanned and referenced against the
printing press, in order to ensure the colour calibration is maintained.
The result is peace of mind for our customers and for the designers who
work on the project, knowing the first print ‘pulls’ for colour are
almost ready to run.

accurate colour reproduction is important to your business, we could
