Graphic Design for Prospectus - We've stormed Castle again

11/05/10 | Posted in Design for Print | Author: Stephan

We're proud to announce Absolute have been selected to produce this year's student recruitment campaign for Castle College Nottingham.

In addition to the College's marketing team and executive, the designs were reviewed by a panel of existing students to ensure their appeal and relevance to the target market. As with previous campaigns our concepts were all in the top two choices of all respondents, with the chosen design being universally selected as the best option.

The magazine style prospectus is a new approach and develops the design theme we have established with previous prospectuses. The concept will be applied to advertising, external banners, bus sides, newsletters and website design.

This success brings the number of prospectuses we have produced for Castle College to eight over the past three years, since it became one of Nottingham's largest Colleges. Challenging both our creative and project management skills, we have produced a total of 574 pages and 131,250 copies.

Google Dance - Web Design Nottingham

4/05/10 | Posted in Web Design | Author: Stephan

I am sure that everyone who has a website on page 1 for a competative keyword will have experienced the Google Dance. The term Google Dance is used when your website randomly drops several places or pages for a selected key term. This drop can happen for several reasons.

The main reason for this is because Googles data centers don't recieve new cached information at the same time, so while all the data centers are being updated with the most up to date information, there is known to be some serious fluctuation in Googles results.

Take our keyword 'Web Design Nottingham', we have continuously been in the top 4 positions over the past year, however all of a sudden we have dropped to position 11. We are going to look to rectify this using link building and refreshing the content on the homepage for the next Google cache. Another key factor to note is that all the other keywords we target have not been affected by the Google Dance. Eg. ‘Web Design in Nottingham', ‘Website Design Nottingham' are still at position 1 and 2 respectively.
