Listen up! We’ll be speaking at PHP North West.

Our Director of Development, Liam Wiltshire, will be joining a distinguished program of speakers at this year’s PHP North West conference in Manchester.

The annual North West conference is now in its eighth year and will take place from 2nd - 4th October 2015 at the Manchester Conference Centre, attracting an anticipated 400+ delegates, speakers and sponsors.

Without giving too much away, Liam’s talk will focus on the basics of server management in a Linux environment. This is important to many organisations because the majority of websites are hosted on Linux servers.

Liam will give an introduction to Linux distributions and will cover a variety of issues including server monitoring and troubleshooting and the setting up of a standard LAMP and LNMP stack. At Absolute, we work with award-winning hosting server UKFast, and they'’ll be supporting Liam'’s talk by providing free hardware for attendees to use over the weekend.

Liam comments: “

"Although Linux is a popular server, many developers do not have experience in Linux SysAdmin. So the aim of my talk is to give a detailed, hands-on introduction to Linux SysAdmin, to enable PHP developers to connect to their server, investigate and rectify simple tasks they’d otherwise have to leave to a senior dev. It’s great to have UKFast there to support us, too”."

Liam has vast experience as a software developer, tackling projects large and small, from multi-million pound ecommerce sites to start-up businesses. Take a look at Absolute’'s web development projects.
