BACKGROUND

Quality Bearings is a distributor of precision bearings, supplying trade and industrial sectors across a wide range of applications.

Quality Bearings has a worldwide reputation built on technical knowledge, reliable availability and fast delivery, with many customers returning regularly to reorder. A strong online experience for the UK market was needed to operate independently from the US site.

A Shopify build offered the right combination of flexibility, maintainability and structured product presentation, enabling the team to manage the store confidently going forward.

BRIEF

A Shopify build and migration created to serve the UK market clearly, consistently, and without operational friction or bottlenecks.

Previously, all UK traffic was routed to the US store, and this could easily cause confusion around delivery expectations and availability. The website was also configured around different product demands and purchasing behaviours, which didn’t always translate neatly to the UK market.

Quality Bearings needed a UK storefront that felt considered and complete, not only on the front end, but also with a smooth operational experience that Shopify is famous for providing. The UK website had to present the full product catalogue in a way that made their technical comparison straightforward, while allowing the internal team to easily manage content and orders.

The site also needed to integrate cleanly with existing operational systems. Sage 200 remained the source of truth for product information, stock levels and pricing logic, so the new store had to sync accurately without introducing manual steps.

HubSpot was already established as the CRM and customer communication platform, meaning lead capture, account activity and enquiry data needed to flow reliably into existing workflows. ShipStation continued to manage fulfillment, so shipping rules, order routing and dispatch processes needed to transfer seamlessly.

HOW WE HELPED

We created a Shopify store shaped around product clarity, catalogue consistency, and integrated fulfillment and CRM systems.

A theme-led Shopify build designed specifically for UK customer journeys

After an in-depth theme discovery session, we customised a Shopify theme to reflect the Quality Bearings brand identity and support the way their UK customers browse and buy bearings.

The homepage and key landing pages were shaped around product discovery, quick navigation and reordering behaviour. Reusable page sections made it easy for Quality Bearings to launch new landing pages and tailored templates over time without development blockers.

Front-end experience and customer journey

A clear customer journey was the priority throughout. We structured technical product information into clear tables, improved category layout for easier comparison and extended breadcrumb trails to help users navigate large catalogues, and instead of a contact form for larger volume orders, we included a bulk pricing table within the product page for easier reference.

Additionally, we customised the Shopify theme to clearly show ex. VAT pricing. This was key for business customers, who are familiar with seeing trade prices without taxes included. This pricing structure was added to collection pages, product pages and in the cart.

Back-end configuration and system integrations

The Shopify store was connected with existing business systems. HubSpot supports CRM and customer lifecycle workflows, while Sage ensures accurate product and stock data syncing. GA4, Microsoft Clarity, Meta Pixel, Google Tag Manager provided a complete analytics framework, and Infinity Tracking offers visibility over call-based conversions.

Product and category migration with SEO continuity

We migrated product and category data, navigation structure and all other content and imagery from BigCommerce to Shopify, refining naming and hierarchy where this improved the user experience.. The new catalogue was also configured to better align with UK search behaviour and buyer intent.

A new Google Merchant feed was prepared with 3rd party integrations, and SEO structure was configured to ensure a stable and indexable launch environment.

These included href lang tags to correctly signal to search engines which version of the site should appear for regional users, and and breadcrumbs were extended both in navigation and schema markup to improve clarity for users and search engines.

CONCLUSION

Much more than a Shopify migration, we built a dedicated storefront designed to be found and explored by the UK market.

A stronger foundation to support a dedicated audience

Following the launch of the dedicated UK store, Quality Bearing's new Shopify website has created a noticeably more stable and scalable digital foundation.

The UK store now benefits from a faster and more stable browsing experience, passing Core Web Vitals on desktop — something the previous setup could not achieve. This means key product content loads sooner, page layout remains steady during interaction, and users experience smoother navigation while comparing product specifications.

In analytics, the UK store shows higher on-site engagement, with users viewing nearly 5x more pages per session than on the previous architecture. This confirms that the interest and market demand was already present. The site simply needed a structure that allowed customers to explore confidently and find the exact part they were searching for.

A partnership that continues beyond launch

Following launch, we continued working with Quality Bearings through an ongoing development support and optimisation plan. Our team delivered a full technical SEO audit to identify structural improvements and uncover opportunities to expand product discovery in the UK market. These recommendations will build on an already strong architecture of the website.

This ongoing partnership with Quality Bearings allows us to introduce improvements in planned phases, without interrupting day-to-day operations. We’re refining subtle yet powerful theme improvements to support high-performance and dedicated UK visibility in search results.

By iterating post-launch rather than treating the migration as a one-off project, the site continues to evolve in line with how customers search for products, ensuring the UK store grows its search presence steadily, confidently and sustainably.
