Absolute gets on board with Brompton bicycles

We’'re delighted to announce that Absolute have been appointed to be the technical support partner for Brompton Dock, the national bike hire network owned by the world-leading manufacturer of folding bikes, Brompton Bicycle Ltd.

We'’re keen cyclists so we jumped at the chance to work with such an iconic cycling brand, supporting their web requirements as well as developing the firmware interface for the Brompton Dock scheme.

Commuters and travellers can book one of the folding bikes online and then use a unique code to access one of the secure branded Brompton Docks found at over 24 locations around the UK.

One of the first tasks we completed was to investigate and identify an issue that some of the docks had been experiencing when operating ‘in the wild’. This was an issue that had been ongoing for some time with their previous technology partner. However, we looked at it again with ‘fresh eyes’ and identified the cause of the issue. We then proposed a temporary fix until hardware problems could be resolved.

We'’ve also been using the Mantis bug tracking system, which allows us to respond to support requests on a daily basis, as well as researching potential improvements to the web interface and associated hardware. Although it’s early on in our partnership we’'ve already managed to make some significant contributions and we look forward to making many more in the coming months.
