Yorkshire Tile approached Absolute as experts in the ecommerce tile sector with the requirement of an ecommerce site that needed a number of sector specific features that would showcase their products on a transactional store and improve brand awareness.
Along with a fresh new look, user testing showed customers required a fast and easy way to find the products and quantities they needed. In addition, Yorkshire Tile wanted to add the ability for samples to be sent to customers via the website, plus a click and collect service, both of which were features regularly requested by customers
Absolute conducted a thorough wireframing and User Experience (UX) exercise to design and build a custom homepage and product detail page, utilising our proven Absolute 'boilerplate’ theme to deliver the remaining site pages. These designs reflect a new and contemporary modular design for the website with clear call to actions and layouts. To improve user experience further, we implemented a price per meter and price per tile calculator on relevant product pages - making it easy to order the exact number of tiles you require for a given space.
Improved filtering on category pages has made it much simpler and quicker for users to narrow down their search to find the exact product they want via a number of filterable attributes. E.g. ‘Room’, ‘Finish’, ‘Suitability’ and many more.
To improve the shopping experience further, the site now offers the ability for users to order free samples. The service is also restricted to avoid it being abused by only allowing a certain number of samples to be sent to an address. In addition, the click and collect option allows customers to order and pay online, for pick up at one of their four showrooms.
Due to the complex nature and size of product data, we configured a stock import module to streamline the process of maintaining accurate levels of inventory on site that also reflected what was in-stock in different stores.
